The Idea of Love

I will admit to a certain truth:

I was in love with the idea of love

I wanted in on its abundant loot

Till I saw the truth behind the fluff

The breaking and dying it contains

The bleeding and stripping it asks

Its clear call to lose and fall again

To open my eyes and close them back

I picked my bags and walked away

Because of this very thing:

I really do not like to break

I’m not wild about bleeding

I promise you I hate to die

Nakedness makes me vulnerable

I hate to lose at any time

Falling for me is intolerable

I want to remain blind

I seek to be comfortable

Yet I want what in love I can find

I desire what is only affordable

Yes this truth I am guilty of

I was in love with the idea of love.

Side Note:

This is poetry now. Read between the lines đŸ™‚

God’s grace.
